THE AQUARIAN MINYAN

IT ALL BEGAN HERE . . . AND IT'S STILL HAPPENING HERE.

Thirty-six years in existence and still going strong, the Aquarian Minyan, a diverse and welcoming East Bay Jewish Renewal community, was founded by Rabbi Zalman Schachter.

While our spiritual legacy goes back to the earliest roots of Jewish mysticism, our community has always been a laboratory for innovation and creativity. As we joyously celebrate our 36th Anniversary, the Minyan continues to grow in wisdom, liveliness, and joy. As we leave behind the Twentieth Century, we stand on a threshold, looking ahead to a time of maturing spirituality, growing faith, and gratitude for the many gifts of our lives.

We are Jews of every level of observance, young and old, single and partnered, LGBT and straight and every sort of family, differently-abled, spiritual seekers and practitioners of many traditions.

Our services are community-led, joyous and solemn, traditional and ever-evolving, “Authentic Judaism.” They combine ancient liturgy, song and story, meditation and movement, poetry and prayer, inner silence and inspired teachings. You don’t have to know Hebrew, the prayers or the tunes. “Off-keys” are always welcome! And no one is turned away for lack of funds.
