Aquarian Minyan Author Series
Reuven Goldfarb Author Night.
Reuven is Renewal Morenu, Maggid, Rabbinic Deputy and one of the original members of the Aquarian Minyan.
Reuven Goldfarb makes his home in Tzfat, a mountain village in northern Israel, where he hosts a monthly salon and convenes weekly sessions of Short Story Intensive. His poems, stories, essays, feature articles, profiles, reviews, opinion pieces, and Divrei Torah have appeared in dozens of newspapers, magazines, and anthologies and won several awards. He founded AGADA, the illustrated Jewish literary magazine in 1981 and served as its editor and published until 1988, the year its most recent issue appeared. When he and his wife Yehudit resided in Berkeley, they were central figures in the life of the Aquarian Minyan community. Reuven led services at their home and during Holy Days celebrations and commemorations and served as newsletter editor, Shomer, and general go-to person. In 1993 he received smicha from Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi as Morenu, Maggid, and Rabbinic Deputy. He will be reading a selection of new poems and autobiographical chapters from a work in progress called Intersections.
There will be a discussion with the audience after the presentation and refreshments. This is a fundraiser for the Minyan. Suggested donation is $10-20.
LOCATION: St. John's Presbyterian Church at 2727 College Ave., Berkeley
